Bomas of Kenya opened inauspiciously in 1971 as part of the Kenya Tourist Development Corporation (KTDC) but is now a powerhouse tourist location in its own right. Located at Langata in the capital city of Nairobi, Bomas is a cultural village which, the Government of Kenya says, 'was established to preserve and promote Kenyan culture through cultural entertainment programmes for tourists.'
